Alice Bernstein Low ’47 has written nearly 30 books for children. Her writings, especially those geared for younger readers, are known for their humorous plots and fanciful characters and include the popular The Witch Who Was Afraid of Witches, which she has adapted as a musical; Aunt Lucy Went to Buy a Hat; Genie and the Witch’s Spells; The Quilted Elephant and the Green Velvet Dragon; and Blueberry Mouse. In addition, Low has compiled several collections of short stories and verse for some highly regarded anthologies, and produced a well-received volume compiling the traditional myths of the ancient Greeks. Her latest work is a collection of her poems for children, to be published in 2008. Low lives in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
