SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Smith Travel -- Patagonian Frontiers -- Departure
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE: January 4-21, 2013=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AThis rare itinerary includes two of the world’s last great frontiers: the majestic fjords and glaciers of southern Patagonia, and Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park, replete with glaciers, lakes, rivers, and thunderous waterfalls. Your encounter with nature will begin and end in two great cosmopolitan centers: Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires, and Chile’s capital, Santiago. In between you’ll set sail on a four-night cruise through the Strait of Magellan and the Beagle and Murray channels to Cape Horn; visit a colony of 120,000 penguins on Magdalena Island; and disembark in Punta Arenas, your gateway to Torres del Paine. You’ll also visit Chile’s Lake District, featuring Vicente Perez Rosales National Park, high in the snow-covered Andes, where you’ll encounter the Osorno volcano and the massive cascades of Petrohue Waterfalls. Your trip concludes in the old port of Valparaiso. A pre-tour option to Iguazu Falls is available.
