| Herrell's Ice Cream |
Dubbed by Newsweek as “a mecca for ice cream lovers,” Herrell’s is a local favorite and worth the short walk from campus. They make their own ice cream and offer more than 125 flavors from which to choose. Some favorites: anything with hot fudge and their famous “smoosh-ins.”

The museum’s namesake is a renowned children’s book author, perhaps best known for classics such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Grouchy Ladybug, among others. The museum features three galleries dedicated to rotating exhibitions of picture-book art, a hands-on art studio, and space for performances and lectures. The Homestead and the Evergreens, two houses that played important roles in Emily Dickinson’s upbringing, offer intriguing glimpses into the reclusive poet’s life. The company got its start more than 30 years ago in western Massachusetts. The flagship store, located in South Deerfield, is a treasure trove of scented candles and holiday ornaments. Kids (and adults) can learn how scents for candles are chosen and can create their own candle designs.
