 Lovers of books, gardens, architecture,
and food won’t want to
miss this grand tour of Oxfordshire
and East Anglia. You’ll visit some
of England’s most magnificent
country houses, chosen for their
exquisite landscape gardens and
ancient family libraries, as well as
some smaller, more intimate, venues,
like Kelmscott Manor, William
Morris’s picturesque summer cottage
in the Cotswolds. The tour is
specially designed to illustrate the
relationship between the antiquarian,
architectural, and horticultural
preoccupations of English country
gentry. A highlight will be a tour
of the expansive library collection
at Oxford University, led by Sarah
Thomas ’70, Bodley’s librarian and
director of the university’s library
system.
