One of the natural wonders of the world is in America's
own backyard: the glacially-carved Great Lakes. A half-century
ago, the lakes were the busiest waterway
on earth and a treasured summer destination. Today,
travelers are rediscovering the vast "sweet water" of
Ontario, Erie, Huron, Michigan, and Superior, and the nineteenth-century
towns that hug their wooded shores. Aboard the Clelia II, an elegant,
all-suite cruiser, you'll visit thundering Niagara Falls and Michigan's
Keweenaw Peninsula, a forested landscape of waterfalls and outcrops,
named by National Geographic as one of the top ten outdoor adventure
locations in America. You'll also enjoy Mackinac Island, a Victorian haven
where cars are forbidden, and Manitoulin Island, home to Canada's only
Native American tribe never to have ceded title to its land. Williams
College and Trinity College will be co-sponsoring this trip. Optional pre-program in Duluth
and post-program in Toronto are also offered.
