From the poetry of William Butler Yeats to the ground-breaking fiction of James Joyce and lyrical plays of John Synge, the literature of Ireland is as breathtaking as the island’s rolling green pastures and windswept coastline, and as memorable as its turbulent history. On this tour you’ll reach beyond Ireland’s tourist façade to explore the artistic and cultural wellsprings of this small but complex nation. Your tour begins in Dublin and proceeds to dramatic, rural Donegal, taking in the full measure of the Irish Republic in between. You’ll cross into Northern Ireland, where you’ll visit the Giant’s Causeway and learn about the legacy of the period known as “The Troubles” directly from Northern Irelanders.
