Israel is a land sacred to Jews, Christians, and Muslims, with well-preserved archaeological sites and thriving, modern cities. Your journey will focus on understanding how Israel’s complex past shapes its present. Beginning in Tel Aviv, you’ll visit the Eretz Israel Museum and the Peres Center for Peace. Next you’ll head via Cae-sarea, home to Roman, Byzantine, and Crusader-era sites, to Galilee, where you’ll stay at the lovely Kfar Blum Kibbutz and explore the Golan Heights and Capernaum, home of Jesus’ ministry. After stops in Nazareth and at the Roman theater in Bet She’an, you’ll spend five days in Jerusalem, taking in the Temple Mount, one of the holiest sites in Judaism and Islam; visit the Holocaust Memorial; and ascend via cable car to Masada, an ancient fortress overlooking the Dead Sea.
