Through Smith College’s Alumnae Travel Program, alumnae and friends journeyed into the heart of ancient civilization on a premier riverboat, specifically designed for cruising through the Nile —the best way to explore the legacies of Egypt. Beginning in Cairo, alumnae visited the pyramids, sacred mosques, and colorful bazaars, and then traveled for seven nights, on the privately chartered Sun Boat III, to fascinating sites between Abydos and Aswan. Before leaving Upper Egypt, they took a day trip to Abu Simbel, and marveled at the monumental temples of Ramses II and his queen, Nefertari. Once back in Cairo, they visited the legendary Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, recalling all of the fascinating pieces of Egyptian history they explored along the way.
