Immerse yourself in the sensory delights of Provence,
France's most luxuriant region. Against a backdrop
of sunflower and lavender fields, lush vineyards, and
ancient, stone-hewn towns, you'll visit markets where
stalls brim with local produce and arts and crafts. Learn
from local experts about the ancient vocation of wine and olive oil production,
and be inspired by the Provence-based art works of van Gogh
and Cézanne while following the footsteps of the artists themselves.
From a base in the gracious city of Aix-en-Provence, you'll make excursions
to the hilltop villages of the Lubéron and the imposing Roman ruins
in Arles. From there, you'll visit the famous Pont du Gard in Avignon—the aqueduct that was one of the Roman Empire's grandest feats of
engineering—and Mont Sainte Victoire, the mountain that anchors so
many of Cézanne's compositions.
