ore than a thousand years have passed since the zenith of the Viking era, but the world continues to hold an intense fascination with the marauding Norsemen. On this spectacular voyage, you will sail the famed coast of Norway aboard the exquisite Midnatsol, discovering the artistic, historic, and natural treasures of this varied region along the way.
Your journey begins with two days in Copenhagen, Denmark’s harmonious capital renowned for its beautiful palaces and splendid museums. In Roskilde, experience the Viking Ship Museum, which houses the wrecks of five Viking ships dating from the year 1000, and tour the twin-towered cathedral built in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. Board the Midnatsol in medieval Bergen, magnificently set amid green hills indented by azure fjords, where you will tour Bryggen, with its fourteenth-century waterfront and brightly painted timbered buildings, and the Hanseatic Museum. Cruise along the incredibly romantic Norwegian fjords, marveling at the Seven Sisters Waterfall and the Sunnmore Alps, stopping in Trondheim, which, according to the Norse Sagas, was settled in 997 by King Olav Tryggvason. Crossing the Arctic Circle, sail by the mighty Borvass Mountains and view the Engabre and Svartisen glaciers. Then sail from Honningsvag through the reindeer-filled Arctic landscape to reach the northernmost point of Europe.
