Tigress Osborn ’96 Makes ‘Time’ Magazine’s List of the Most Influential People in Health

Featured on the cover of the Spring 2023 Smith Alumnae Quarterly, Osborn has led the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance since 2021. Both professionally and personally, she’s helping make the world more equitable for fat people through education, advocacy, and support. One recent example of this, as Time reports, was when she testified in support of a New York City ban on weight discrimination.

Rowing Team Wins NEWMAC Championship, Advances to Finals

On April 27 in Worcester, Massachusetts, the Pioneers placed first after winning three races and tallying 42 points. The team will now advance to the NCAA Division III championship for the first time in 14 years. The national contest takes place May 31 and June 1 in Bethel, Ohio.

Opening Reception for Exhibit by Nava Grunfeld, M.A.T. ’81

On Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Alumnae House, a gathering for the Smith community will be held in honor of Grunfeld’s new exhibition, The Radiant Energy of Color. The exhibit will remain on display at the Alumnae House until July 19.

Lenelle Moïse, M.F.A. ’04, Named Finalist for Playwriting Award

According to Playbill, the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize honors female and nonbinary playwrights who have written English-language plays. Recognized for her full-length play K-I-S-S-I-N-G, Moïse was one of 10 finalists who received $5,000 on March 11.

Community Choir Led by Arianne Abela ’08 to Perform Friday
