ZineFest Offers Lessons on Self-Publishing

Co-sponsored by the Design Thinking Initiative and the Wurtele Center for Leadership, ZineFest was a daylong celebration of all things zines: small, noncommercial publications that are generally self-published. The Oct. 7 event featured a panel with cartoonist Ebony Flowers, author Mimi Thi Nguyen, and journalist Shay Mirk, who discussed why zines are such a special form of media. “Zines are about embracing the imperfect and seeing what comes from the heart,” says Mirk.
