Smith Basketball Advances to Final Four for Third Consecutive Year
Following a victory on Saturday, March 15, the Pioneers punched a ticket once again to the NCAA Division III Basketball Championship. On Tuesday, the team departed for Salem, Virginia, where they will play the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. EST.

Get To Know Cowiya Arouna ’21, Smith’s First Schwarzman Scholar
Launched in 2016, the Schwarzman Scholars awards fully funded scholarships for master’s programs at Beijing’s Tsinghua University. Arouna, who will study global affairs this summer, is the first Smithie to participate in the prestigious scholarship program.

Lily Braun-Arnold ’26 Releases Apocalyptic-Themed Debut Novel
Released in January, The Last Bookstore on Earth tells the story of two teenagers, Liz and Maeve, who join forces to weather an apocalyptic event. “The apocalypse has always meant so much to me ... I just hope that others can find the same comfort in it that I have,” says Braun-Arnold.

Professor Christophe Golé’s Book Wins 2025 PROSE Award
Co-written by Stéphane Douady, Jacques Dumais, and Nancy Pick, Do Plants Know Math? explores how scientists have been mystified by the growing patterns of various plants in nature. The book won in the popular science and mathematics category.

Jocel Boney Thornhill ’90 Makes List of Women Trailblazers
After being named to ONYX ’s Women on the Move list, which celebrates Florida’s most impactful and influential women, Thornhill was honored at a March 1 ceremony for her work as director of strategic programs and community relations at Electronic Arts.

Jaime Snyder, M.S. ’19, Becomes Coach at Northeastern
In this new role, Snyder will oversee the university’s volleyball team, the Huskies. According to an article by The Huntington News, Northeastern’s student newspaper, Snyder previously coached at Hartford University and D’Youville University.
