Botanic Garden Announces 2025 Conservation Interns
As this year’s interns, Adline Dely ’26, left, and Dina Alam ’27 will partner on projects about conservation work and sustainability. “Science is all about collaborating,” says Dely. “I like that [this internship] is a mix of independent study as well as outdoor activity and team collaboration.”

Established in 2024 by head coach Lynn Hersey, the Playmakers Club offers leadership workshops, basketball clinics, and other free activities to young girls. “I wanted to use our program and platform to elevate their confidence, self-esteem, and belief in themselves,” says Hersey.

Dorothy Moss ’95 Hosts Lecture on Kahn Project on April 10
Tomorrow at 5 p.m. EST in the Klingenstein Browsing Room, join Moss for a lecture titled “Excavating the Image: Dispersed Connections.” Commemorating a collaboration between the Kahn Institute and the Smith College Museum of Art, the lecture will examine pieces by the late Chinese artist Hung Liu.

Deborah Archer ’93 To Speak About New Book in New York City
On April 15 at 6:30 p.m. EST, Archer will discuss her new book, Dividing Lines: How Transportation Infrastructure Reinforces Racial Inequality, during an event at The New York Historical. A 2022 Smith medalist and current Smith trustee, Archer focuses her book on examining racism in relation to transportation infrastructure.

Carolina Miranda-Silva ’93 Wins Andy Warhol Grant
Recently, journalist Miranda-Silva received a share of $945,000 as a recipient of the Andy Warhol Foundation Grant, which supports those writing about contemporary art. She plans to use the grant to support her writing projects about the intersection of design and visual culture with politics and society.

Erin Park Cohn ’00 Contemplates Natural World in Substack
Director of the Wurtele Center for Leadership, Cohn recently launched Facit Saltus, a Substack newsletter examining the environment and animals through research and literature, drawing connections between nature and the structures of modern life.
