How much is registration and what is included?
Before the early bird deadline:
$189 for Smith College alumnae
$139 for Smith College alumnae ten or fewer years out (classes of 2008 to 2017)
$209 for Non Smith College alumnae
After the February 28, 2018 early bird deadline, registration fees will increase by $20
$209 for Smith College alumnae
$159 for Smith College alumnae ten or fewer years out (classes of 2008 to 2017)
$229 for Non Smith College alumnae
Your registration includes:
- Continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday
- Lunch on Saturday and Sunday
- Light refreshment breaks, mid-morning and mid-afternoon
- Presidential Colloquium, followed by a reception
- Three keynote sessions
- Five breakout session blocks featuring 25 topics to choose from
- Networking opportunities with alumnae and current students
- Continental breakfast and buffet lunch for Friday Coaching Summit participants
- Access to the Smith Museum of Art, Botanic Gardens, Athletic facilities and more, for the duration of the conference
- Program materials
The pre-conference ‘Coaching Summit’ day is a separate fee (as noted on Registration form).
Hotel and transportation are not included in the conference registration fee.

I’m not a woman of color – may I attend the conference?
All members of the Smith alumnae community are invited and encouraged to attend this important conference.
Why is the conference open to those who are not alumnae of color?
The conference is designed for the Smith College alumnae of color community. All presenters are women of color and all workshops will discuss topics of importance to women of color. In addition, we strive to provide an environment where participants feel safe to speak openly and honestly as they share their personal stories.
Inclusivity is important and we welcome all champions and supporters to hear these dynamic speakers and listen to our diverse alumnae community.
Can I bring a non-Smithie friend?
Alumnae are welcome to bring one non-Smithie guest.

How long is the Conference?
The 2018 Conference includes events spanning two-and-a-half days. View the schedule overview for a general schedule (subject to change).
The pre-conference ‘Coaching Summit’ day will be held on Friday, April 13, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The main conference will be held on April 14 and 15, from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
In addition, we will host a “BSA 50th Anniversary Dinner” on Saturday evening of the conference. See the conference website for details.
What should I wear/What may I bring?
Attendees generally wear business casual attire. During the day, you will be moving between sessions, including up and down stairs, so wear comfortable and appropriate clothing and shoes.
Past attendees have found it helpful to bring any of the following: business cards, phone/laptop/tablet + charger, paper/pen for taking notes. Please note that attendees are responsible for the security of their own belongings.
What is the Presidential Colloquium?
This year’s speaker is Juana María Rodríguez. Read more about her and other Presidential Colloquium speakers here. The Presidential Colloquium regularly features influential thought leaders in a wide range of fields—from poets and writers to economists and policy experts—to share their expertise, offer insights, and inspire discourse on key social, political and global topics that call for our attention. Come discover, learn, ask questions and engage in the conversation, and network with other conference attendees. Lectures are free and open to the public.
What is the Coaching Summit?
This pre-conference day will be an opportunity for alumnae to learn how to be a great coach and mentor for the next generation. After a morning workshop where you will focus on how to use your strengths to coach others, you will spend the afternoon engaging with students participating in the Innovation Challenge project coordinated by the Office of Alumnae Relations: Diverse Smithies: Connecting, Coaching, and Celebrating Together. This coaching summit is limited to 25 alumnae.
This program brings together energetic, strong, accomplished Smith POC alumnae and students for a series of half-day, on-campus retreats during the academic year. What is the BSA 50th Anniversary dinner?
As part of the 50th anniversary of the Black Students Alliance (BSA), one of the oldest established cultural organizations on campus, the conference will include a celebration dinner in recognition of this remarkable history.
This event is being generously underwritten by President Kathleen McCartney.
What if my plans change?
If you are unable to attend, cancellations and requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received no later than 5 p.m. (Eastern Time) Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Your conference registration may be transferred to another person in your absence.
Written cancellation notification, request for refund, or transfer to another attendee will be accepted via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All spaces used for the conference are handicap accessible. Sign-language interpreters or assistive listening devices are available if requested at least two weeks prior to the conference. Contact disability services at 413.585.2071 or send an email to email@example.com to request services.
