Amy Bloom, MSW ’78
Amy Bloom, MSW ’78, is the author of two novels and two collections of short stories. Her latest book is the highly acclaimed novel Away. A nominee for the National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award, her stories have appeared in Best American Short Stories, Prize Stories: The O. Henry Awards, and numerous anthologies here and abroad. She has also written for the New Yorker, the New York Times Magazine, the Atlantic Monthly, and Vogue. In addition, Bloom is the writer and co-executive producer for the Lifetime television series State of Mind, which premiered in summer 2007. A lecturer in creative writing at Yale University, Bloom is also teaching a short story course at Smith during the 2007-08 academic year. She lives in Connecticut.
