Two_Alices_and_Mimi_300dpiThe two Alices and Mimi at the College Botanic Garden Bulb Show on March 13 while on campus reviewing 55th reunion details.  Mimi said, “Weather was very raw out side, but heaven on earth inside with hyacinth fragrance in every cubic inch.”

Mimi-3Mimi and Dan Dyer at the annual meeting of the Cruising Club of America, in New York, March 7.  Dan was wrapping up a two year term as Commodore. Trophy is one he received as the winning navigator in the 1998 Newport Bermuda Race.

Smith photo1Katherine Gabel and Eunice Shatz were married Friday December 8, 2013  at the home of Lillian Faderman and Phyllis Irwin, friends of the couple, in Fresno, Calif. Rabbi Laura Novak Winer officiated.    Dr. Gabel, 75, retired as the western regional director of Lambda Legal in Los Angeles. She graduated from Smith and has a master’s in social work from Simmons College, a Ph.D. in social science from Syracuse and a law degree from Albany Law School.   Dr. Shatz, 82, retired as the dean of the College of Social Work at the University of Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island and received a master’s in social services administration from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in social welfare from Brandeis.   Ms. Gabel’s and Ms. Shatz’s first marriages ended in divorce.

 

get-attachmentL to R Joan Buhse BoseKayla Bose and Coach Lisa Sweeney.     When the Princeton softball Coach visited the Bay Are to recruit ball players she was entertained by my granddaughter Kayla who is a Varsity softball Player at Princeton.  I wore my Smith colors to present to Kayla and Lisa a picture of myself playing on the winning  Wilder House Softball team.  That was about as Varsity as we got back then.

Our Reunion Co-Chairs, Alice Watson Houston and Mimi Kenower Dyer, “shadowed and shared” as the class ahead of us, ’58, enjoyed their 55th reunion, May 24-26. As guests of the class of ’58, we wore their red hats and ribbons. But we are Ever Green to our corps!
