Presidents’ Message

Dear Classmates –

As Andrea Feld wrote in our senior class yearbook, it was a time of “four turbulent years of protest and revolutionary change on an international, national, and local level – changes which stretched from Vietnam to the White House, to Northampton, MA. Our class entered Smith College in September of 1972, in the wake of massive campus demonstrations which occurred all over the country and climaxed at Kent State University, in protest of the Vietnam War and the bombing of Cambodia by the Nixon regime.” And here we are again, living in historic, world-changing times. All the more reason to cherish our friendships and associations by coming together at our 50th Reunion!

Now, please read on for more information. Looking forward to seeing everyone next May!

Welcome to the 50th Reunion website!

The site is organized as follows:

  1. Welcome and Theme: A Moment in Time
  2. Presidents’ Message
  3. Class Officers and 50th Reunion Planning Committee
  4. 50th Reunion Giving
  5. News
  6. Keeping in Touch
  7. History: 50 Years and More!
  8. In Memoriam

This site will be updated regularly, especially the 50th Reunion Giving and News pages. And as we get closer to Reunion, we’ll publish the list of who’s registered for reunion, so check in regularly to stay up to date!

A note about privacy. Most of this website is public. However, the In Memoriam section is password-protected and accessible only to you and our classmates. Our password is the name of the bookstore on Green Street during our years at Smith (it starts with a Q and is all lower case). Still stumped? Click here for your hint or contact Gretchen.

You can also stay in touch by joining our Smith College Class of 1976 Facebook Group. It’s a closed group, open only to members of our class who request to join or who are personally invited by classmates; pictures and posts are not public. For those leery of joining Facebook, you can adjust settings so that only those you invite or accept have access to your profile.

We can’t wait to see you all next May! In the meantime, please be in touch with any questions.
