Reunion FAQ

1.  What’s the Overview for Reunion Weekend?

Houses open 4pm on Thursday 5/23, with activities planned for the evening.

Friday and Saturday are pretty packed, dawn until dusk.  Faculty lectures, tours of the new Neilson library, hands on programs, JYA/affinity group gatherings, Ivy Day (Alumnae Parade), and Illumination Night are just some of the activities.  

Our class programs are scheduled Friday 1:15pm – 4:00pm, Saturday morning, and Saturday 4:00pm. Class dinners and happy hours are scheduled Friday and Saturday evening. Helen Hills Hills Chapel will hold a beautiful all-class Service of Remembrance on Saturday.

The weekend will capped off by Sunday morning breakfast. Campus will get pretty quiet after 12:00pm with the houses closing before noon.

2.  What are the Class of 1994 programs at Reunion?

Our featured class programs include a film screening, tea, and a movement class! 

Where I Became” by Tandiwe Njobe ’94 and Jane Shang ’82 is an award winning documentary about 16 Smith College scholarship recipients from South Africa. The screening is scheduled for Friday at 1:15 pm. A discussion will follow with the film’s director, Kate Geis, Tandiwe Njobe ’94, and potentially additional scholarship participants and will be moderated by Peter DeVilliers, Smith Professor Emeritus of Psychology. Lori Tharps ’94 writes about the documentary or watch the trailer for “Where I Became”.

Our second class program, our 1994 Class Tea, is back by popular demand!  Tea will be served Saturday afternoon, in addition to dinners on Friday and on Saturday evening, and breakfast on Sunday. Finally, Rachel Ann Day ’94 will be leading a movement class on Saturday at 7am.

3. What house are we staying in —Is it Accessible?

The College will determine where we are housed based on the number of registrants and identified special needs. It is extremely important to declare any special needs when registering as provided in the forms.  If you would like to speak to someone directly about Accessibility, contact the Reunion Hotline at 413-585-2150 or reunionregistration@smith.edu.

4. What do I Register for? How much does it cost?

Online registration is open until May 10th.

On campus room & board rate is for the entire weekend, without exception.  Feel free to to book your own Airbnb or hotel as an alternative. Breakfast is included in the board rate and Saturday lunch will be subsidized by the College. Lunch will be picnic-style.

Other meals are purchased a la carte. There is some choice between food options when registering for meals. Dining services is working diligently to satisfy a wide variety of dietary needs. A list of ingredients will be available upon request. Transportation costs to and from Smith are the responsibility of each attendee.

5. If I register and can’t attend, can I get a refund?
Class and college registration fees are non-refundable. Meal fees are nonrefundable after the May 10 registration deadline for Reunion II. Housing fees are always refundable no matter when the person canceled. Requests for refund can be directed to Reunion Registration by phone at 800-526-2023 (option 9) or 413-585-2150, or by email at reunionregistration@smith.edu. All refund requests will be reviewed and processed following the completion of Reunion II weekend. Please allow up to four weeks for receipt of your refund.

6. How can I help?

  • Please share your photos — from college days or from yesterday.  We will have a slideshow at one of our Reunion Class Dinners!  We’ve created a shared google photo album to make it easy – just click and drop your shots!
  • Volunteer for One Hour  — Could you call your Smith House mates?  Please help call (or email or text) your friends and housemates and tell them about Reunion!  This should take less than one hour of your time and it will be a huge help.  Contact Rachel Ann Day ’94, day.rachelann@gmail.comour House Connector Chair, if you are interested!
  • Make a Donation to the Smith Fund!  Increase our fundraising numbers that will be announced with a big white sign at the all-alumnae meeting by President Sarah Willie-LeBreton!  Smith Fund dollars are spent the year in which they are received and go where the College needs it most — currently, most goes to financial aid and the rest to operational expenses. You may designate your gift if you wish, and any gift may be made in honor or in memoriam of a loved one.
