And here are some tips of what to avoid from the web manager:

• Graphics without text (for participants who are using screen readers – the reader will read only text and if the photo or graphics don’t have captions, it is not possible for the screen reader to read the description)
• Using colors that don’t contrast well, i.e. blue and yellow
• Using PowerPoints that have texts receding and emerging and have moving banners across the screen
• Using small fonts
• Attaching PDFs with graphics

I founded this group because I wanted to continue the amazing disability community connections I made at Smith and to expand them to include our wonderful network of Smithie Alums. However, I am starting graduate school soon and know I will not have the energy and time to give this page the attention it deserves. As an officer of a new group you’d have the ability to explore any ideas, projects or directions you have. It is a great opportunity to not only give back to the Smith community but to make it a more accessible and inclusive one!
