Smith Day

Now entering its 81st year, Smith Day is the Minnesota Smith Club’s annual fund-raising event. Proceeds are deposited in our endowed scholarship fund, which provides scholarships for outstanding young Minnesota women. Funds are also used to support PRAXIS summer internships that allow students to gain practical experience in an area of special interest. Over the years our endowed scholarship fund has grown to an impressive $2 million+.

Smith Day is both a shopping bonanza (many recent alums discovered that this is The Place to find their designer professional and casual clothes) and a wonderful opportunity to connect with other alums from the area and entertain shopaholic friends. The club members who volunteer to work the week before the sale, sorting, pricing, making signs, and brainstorming, have a great time. For some, it’s the only time during the year that they see dear Smith friends, and they have fun as well as make such valuable contributions to the event and to Smith.

The sale is held at the Hopkins Center for the Arts the Saturday after Labor Day (September 12 for 2015). Be sure to donate your goods (see instructions for donating by clicking the Donations link at top right), and talk up the sale with friends, as you can bring as many as you’d like. Please consider volunteering early–we have a ball getting the event ready.

If you have any questions, ideas, requests or if you’d like to volunteer, please write to mnsmithclub@hotmail.com.
