Smith Day Donation Form: http://goo.gl/forms/aP9SpxIfIH

Smith Day Silent Auction co-chairs Martha Phelps and Mariquita Anderson welcome and rely on your donations to make this year’s Silent Auction a success! We need volunteers to solicit donations from local businesses, and we also accept appropriate donations of goods and services that you may like to solicit or donate yourself. We will be tracking all donations this year in order to simplify the process. To record a donation, please fill out the short form at http://goo.gl/forms/aP9SpxIfIH with the relevant information about your item. The form is self-explanatory and requires information on the donor so that we can write thank you notes and simplify record-keeping, which in the past has been done manually. Thank you everyone for your efforts in getting our donations for Silent Auction off to a good start!

Our depot is on Cedar Lake Road in Minnetonka and is open for business 7 days a week. For information on accessing the lockers there or for pickup, contact Stephanie Frost or Marty Swain (952-474-2466; mheiberg@umn.edu).

Here’s what we need from you to make Smith Day a huge success:

Clothing: Always our biggest revenue-maker, the success of this department is based on Smith Day’s reputation for clean, high-quality garments, shoes and accessories. Vintage clothes (50 years and older) are welcome. Women and children’s clothes are preferred.

Housewares: Do you have a wedding present, antique or household item you’ve rarely used? Maybe it’s just what someone else needs! We can use tableware, linens, jewelry, picture frames, glassware, table decorations and kitchen equipment in good condition. Before donating any small electric appliances, please be sure they are in good operating condition.

Bakery: Many Smith Day shoppers like to start the day with coffee and a muffin, scone or biscotti purchased at the Bakery. Here’s also where you can find a cake or pie to take home for dessert and flowers for the table. Cookies, meringues, salsa, fresh veggies – whatever you love to cook or grow in your garden, we love to sell! Please keep in mind that we have limited cooler space for items that need refrigeration. If you don’t have time or don’t like to bake, feel free to bring a treat from your favorite bakery.

Books: If your bookshelves and night tables are stacked to overflowing, we have a solution to your problem! Fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks (new and old), coffee-table books, children’s books, hardcover, paperback – we can use just about anything except textbooks, encyclopedias or old travel books.

Silent Auction: Wonderful silent auction items include such items as tickets to the Guthrie (did you know that 40% of the Lifetime Board Members of the Guthrie are Smithies?!), Vikings, Twins, Ordway; gift certificates to restaurants and boutiques you frequent; and gift baskets, jewelry, art, dinner parties, anything really special or unique.
