Pay any attention to the news—and even Hollywood—and you’ll quickly get the message: the education landscape is shifting dramatically. Schools are underfunded, teachers are under fire, and calls for reform are more urgent than ever.

This important, and timely, two-day conference, hosted by the Alumnae Association of Smith College, will bring together Smith faculty and prominent alumnae teachers, scholars, and education policy experts to explore some of the most pressing issues in education, at both the K-12 and college level.
Topics include:
- Global education in the twenty-first century
- E-learning
- Bullying in schools
- Equal access to education
- Teaching science and sustainability
- Innovative approaches to teaching and learning in the twenty-first century.

Registration information
Fees: Standard alumnae fee: $200. Recent alumnae (classes between ’06 and ’10): $150. A limited number of stipends are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Alumnae who would like to request financial assistance should contact the Alumnae Association by e-mail at alumedu@smith.edu.
One guest is welcome at the standard alumnae fee. The fee for additional guests is $250.
Accommodations
Overnight accommodations are available at local hotels. A limited number of rooms are on hold for conference attendees at the Clarion Hotel in Northampton. To reserve a room at the special rate ($79), call 800-582-2929 and identify yourself as a participant in the Smith Women in Education conference. Click here for a list of other hotels in the area.

Parking is available at the campus parking garage on West Street in white lined spaces. Click here to print a parking permit for display on the dashboard of your vehicle. Parking on city streets is metered at a rate of $.25 per hour. We cannot issue passes for city street parking.
Handouts are welcome. Should you wish to bring materials for display and distribution on an information table, please send copies via post/UPS/FedEx to Laurie Boucher at 33 Elm Street, Northampton, MA 01063 by March 23.
Shuttles will be available to and from the garage, the Clarion Hotel and the Autumn Inn at the beginning and conclusion of each program day.
