Treasures of Peru
Click here to download the full trip brochure and registration form
Great travelers live by the adage that everyone “must” see Machu Picchu. This is the trip that will take you there. Your exploration of Peru’s treasures begins at the Larco Museum in Lima and continues in Cusco, capital of the Inca empire and one of the great archaeological sites of the Americas, where you’ll tour the Sacred Valley, the Indian market at Pisac, and the ruins of Ollantaytambo. Then you’ll travel via train to Machu Picchu itself—the Lost City of the Incas—where you’ll stay overnight in order to explore the ruins early, on a guided tour before crowds arrive. Later in the trip you’ll travel through the rugged Altiplano—the second-largest mountain plateau on earth, after Tibet—to the remote shores of Lake Titicaca, where you’ll visit the Floating Islands and Taquile Island, known for superb, locally crafted textiles. A post-tour option to the Amazon rainforest is available. For more information, call Smith Travel at 800-225-2029, or contact us via e-mail at alumtrav@smith.edu.
