Interested in Displaying Your Work in the Gallery?
Thank you for your interest in exhibiting your work at the Smith College Alumnae House Art Gallery. The Alumnae Association Gallery Committee would be delighted to consider your work for an upcoming show. Currently we are scheduling into Fall 2008.
The Gallery is located in the main reception area on the first floor of the Alumnae House, located at 33 Elm Street, Northampton, Massachusetts, 01063. This area receives a good amount of traffic from staff, students, alumnae, and community members visiting the house for a variety of events, both public and private, for Smith and the community-at-large.
Traditionally, the Gallery hosts three to five shows a year, ranging between six weeks and three months in length. The ceiling height in the gallery is 10’6”. Four walls are 10’5” in width, three walls are 5’, and two walls are 29” and 33” respectively.
Hanging work is exhibited on the wood-paneled walls either from ceiling molding or pre-existing nails. The wall panels are made of rare teak and cannot be damaged. The Alumnae Association provides molding hooks and a ladder; however, artists are responsible for hanging and removing their work, or for hiring someone to do this for them. Work must be exhibit-ready, framed or mounted. The Alumnae Association can supply contact information for Smith students trained to assist in the hanging of artwork. All exhibiting artists are responsible for this set up and hosting an optional reception.
If you would like to exhibit your artwork in our gallery, please send slides, a CD, or samples of your work along with your résumé and artist’s statement/bio if applicable to the address below.
We look forward to hearing from you and hope that you will find the Alumnae House at Smith College a wonderful venue to exhibit your work, and an opportunity to connect with Smith.
