Reunion and Commencement

The Alumnae Association strives to help alumnae connect to Smith and to each other in ways that address special interests and common bonds, whether on a cultural or professional basis.

The Affinity and Special Interest Program offers opportunities for alumnae of shared interests to establish online and in-person communities. The AASC Web site will soon launch online discussion groups, career mentoring and networking, and Web site hosting for special interest groups.

Currently, the Alumnae Association hosts two affinity groups—Black Alumnae of Smith College (BASC) and the Association of Latina Alumnae of Smith (ALAS).

Formed in 1996, BASC enables black alumnae to affirm and celebrate their cultural heritage within the Smith community. Programs developed by BASC further its mission to provide opportunities for alumnae to reconnect with each other and the college and to assist with the recruitment and retention of students.

Formed in 2000, ALAS strengthens Latina and Latin American alumnae networks, assists with the recruitment of students in the U.S. and abroad, and enriches the lives of current Latina and Latin American Smith students.

For information on affinity group guidelines or the process involved in creating an affinity group, please contact the Clubs Office at alumedu@email.smith.edu, or call Alumnae Outreach at 800-526-2023, ext. 4.
