Seven alums from the NSSCC joined with approximately 20 alums from the greater Boston area for a tour of Garden in the Woods and a lecture with John Berryhill, the new Director of the Botanic Garden of Smith College on Sunday, June 8, 2025. We enjoyed hearing how Smith is responding to a pivotal moment in botanic garden history. Conservation, collaboration, and restorative justice are at the heart of new projects that invite today’s Smithies into the complex urgent problems that botanic gardens are uniquely situated to address. The tour of Garden in the Woods was provided courtesy of Native Plant Trust. This event was hosted by the Friends of the Botanic Garden Leadership Council.
