Alumna Named Disney's First Female CFO The Walt Disney Company named Christine McCarthy ’77 as its new chief financial officer, making her Disney’s first female CFO and the company's highest-ranking woman. McCarthy, who earned an MBA at UCLA after graduating from Smith, joined the Walt Disney Company in 2000 and most recently served as treasurer.

White House Council on STEM An Art Wrong Made Right Pioneers in Education For the first time, the White House Council on Women and Girls focused on STEM education, and Smith was there. Learn how Smith is playing a leading role in the national conversation on strategies for increasing diversity in STEM fields. In the 1940s, 80 paintings were sold from Smith’s early collection at bargain-basement prices. After a little detective work, one valuable piece (deemed “unimportant” at the time) is back at the museum. In honor of the Ada Comstock Scholars Program’s 40th anniversary, Dianne Jester-Wieland AC presented a capstone project tracing the history of the program that illustrates just how trailblazing these early Adas really were.
