The Walt Disney Company named Christine McCarthy ’77 as its new chief financial officer, making her Disney’s first female CFO and the company's highest-ranking woman. McCarthy, who earned an MBA at UCLA after graduating from Smith, joined the Walt Disney Company in 2000 and most recently served as treasurer. |

For the first time, the White House Council on Women and Girls focused on STEM education, and Smith was there. Learn how Smith is playing a leading role in the national conversation on strategies for increasing diversity in STEM fields. |
In the 1940s, 80 paintings were sold from Smith’s early collection at bargain-basement prices. After a little detective work, one valuable piece (deemed “unimportant” at the time) is back at the museum. |
