Alumna to Head Swiss Transportation System
Anne Hornung-Soukup ’74 was recently appointed chair of the board of TPG, the Geneva, Switzerland, transportation system. A native of Washington, D.C., she has lived in Geneva for 24 years, working in the financial sector and as an advocate for equal rights in the workplace.
Gloria Steinem ’56 Will Deliver Presidential Colloquium Letters Reveal Personal Side of Sylvia Plath ’55 Viola Davis Shares Life Lessons with Smith Community
Feminist leader Gloria Steinem ’56 will return to campus to deliver a Presidential Colloquium at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 28, in John M. Greene Hall. The event is free and open to the public. Twelve pieces of correspondence from Sylvia Plath ’55 to the mother of a childhood friend reveal a side of the poet and author few ever saw, says Karen Kukil, associate curator for special collections at Smith. Award-winning actress Viola Davis sat down with theatre professor Andrea Hairston ’74 in front of a sold-out crowd at John M. Greene Hall to share her experiences navigating Hollywood as a woman of color.
