Sarah Flores Shannon ’17 is the first Smith student to graduate with a Five College certificate in reproductive health, rights and justice. The certificate’s experiential requirement led Flores Shannon to spend her junior year studying population trends in Cuba, making her the first member of her family to return to the island since her mother left nearly 60 years ago. |
Alumnae from the classes of 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997, 2007 came back to campus to celebrate Reunion. And they came back in record numbers: more than 1,100 alumnae and close to 500 guests. The class of 1967 broke attendance and fundraising records, with more than $26 million raised for Smith in the past five years. Enjoy this Ivy Day photo gallery as the campus prepares to welcome more alumnae this weekend for Reunion II.

Julia Chase-Brand ’63 is among the members of the third class inducted into the Smith College Athletics Hall of Fame. This year’s group includes graduates from as early as 1949 and as recent as 2005. Chase-Brand was the first woman to cross the finish line of the Manchester (CT) Road Race, despite a legal ban against female participation. An induction ceremony will be held on campus in October. |
