Smith College Gears Up for 2018 Commencement
Smith is preparing to both send the class of 2018 out into the world and welcome alumnae back to campus during Commencement/Reunion Weekend, May 17–20. The Ivy Day and Commencement ceremonies will be streamed live on Saturday and Sunday mornings.    
Alumnae Share Highlights of Their Myriad Career Paths What’s Next for the Neilson Library Project? Global Impressions: Stepping Out of One’s Comfort Zone
Michaela LeBlanc ’07 works for Goldman Sachs International as an investment analyst in London. How did she get there? Kathryn Stuart ’08 interviews LeBlanc and other alumnae, including media strategist Kate O'Brian ’80 and The View co-host Sara Haines ’00, on how they navigated their career paths. While behind-the-scenes work on the project continued after the unexpected March 9 collapse of the building’s west pavilion cornice, demolition and heavy construction have been temporarily on hold. Work on Neilson Library is set to fully resume the week after Commencement, following a six-week schedule adjustment. The latest issue of Global Impressions explores the theme of “Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone.” Marleni Chavana ’20 writes about being an inexperienced bike rider in Amsterdam: “When my boss said we were going to the satellite office and showed me the yellow bike I’d be using to get there, I knew my fate was sealed.... I was so scared.”
Capen and Morrow Houses Ditch the Dryer
A new laundry drying-rack system proposed by students in Capen and Morrow houses is the winner of the college’s first-ever House Sustainability Challenge. Making portable racks the key to the pilot program this semester, the system reduced by nearly 200 cycles the use of dryers in the two houses.

Smith admission professionals will share strategies to help you successfully navigate the college admission process.
