Programs

We have a variety of longstanding popular programs, but there’s always room for something new. Contact us at hcsc@alumnae.smith.edu with your suggestions (and offers of help!) for planning and implementing this year’s programs.

Alumnae Admissions Program
The Alumnae Admissions Committee works in cooperation with the Office of Admissions. It seeks to identify local high school students who are good candidates for college and encourage them to apply to Smith and, if accepted, to attend. In early fall, we sponsor a very popular workshop on writing the college application essay. It is open to all local high school students, parents, teachers and guidance counselors. Each spring, the Alumnae Admissions Committee coordinates the Smith Book Award, given to an outstanding junior selected by local high schools.  We also coordinate the Roses of Welcome program, through which alumnae volunteers deliver a rose to newly accepted Smith students to welcome them to the Smith family.

Book Group
The Book Group meets in members’ homes monthly, usually the third Wednesday of the month for an informal pot luck and book discussion, from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Click here for more information.

Community Connections
Countless local alumnae give back to the community by volunteering in numerous organizations, both independently and in groups with other alumnae. The Board welcomes suggestions for ways in which HCSC can benefit local communities.
