Opportunities

Club Board Members

Express your opinion and help shape the future of the Smith College Club of Rochester by becoming a board member or by simply attending a board meeting. Currently we are in need of a Vice President to share decision-making with the Executive Committee and assist with operation of Club activities and a Young Alumnae Coordinator to be the voice of and help plan activities of interest to Rochester’s younger alumnae. If you are interested in a position that is currently filled, please don’t be shy about letting us know, as we would be happy to contact you when a position is vacated. Phone (218-0880) or email (rochesterclub@alumnae.smith.edu) Kathy Wissler if you are interested in learning more.

59th Annual House Tour – May 2008

The key to success for the Club’s annual House Tour is all of the wonderful Smith alumnae (and friends) who volunteer to work on the tour each year! We are proud to have supported so many Smith students through the incredible fundraising efforts of the tour. New volunteers are always needed to ensure the Tour’s future success. Volunteer commitments range from only a few hours on Tour day to sharing your energy and enthusiasm over the months leading up to the tour, but all jobs share one common element – each and every job is essential to the tour’s success!

If you want to keep this Club tradition alive, be sure to contact Tory Foster Van Voorhis, the 2007 House Tour chair, and let her know how you can help.

Provide an Event Location

Participate in a Smith Club event without even leaving your home! Spaces both large and small are needed for various club activities including the annual meeting, gatherings for students, lectures, teas, book club meetings, house tour home owners’ party and more. Contact Kathy Wissler (218-0880) if you can host an event.

Smith College Admissions

Would you like to share your enthusiasm for Smith with prospective students?

Consider assisting our area Alumnae Admission Coordinator Emma Kelly-Haskens with recruitment activities! A few of the ways in which you can help include co-hosting a table at a local college fair or interviewing students applying to Smith.

Welcome Committee

Be part of a group of club members that welcome Rochester’s newest Smith alumnae! Share your knowledge and experience with Smithies new to our area and let them know what Rochester and our club have to offer. Contact Kathy Wissler (218-0880) if you would like to volunteer or if you have ideas or suggestions that you would like to share with the committee.

Book Awards

Kim Salisbury, the Club’s Book Award Coordinator, could use help preparing and delivering some of the 20+ Book Awards. Volunteers are need to help out in the months of April, May, or June. Please contact Kim if you can help!
