About the Club

The Smith Book Awards have been awarded to 10 schools, thanks to the hard work of Toronto member Eudora Pendergrast.  Here is how Eudora describes the awards:

Smith Book Awards are given as a means of recognizing outstanding Grade 11
students from local high schools who exemplify the academic achievement,
leadership qualities, and concern for others that characterize the thousands
of women who have graduated from Smith College. We are asking you to
nominate a young woman from the top tenth of your grade 11 class who
embodies these qualities and serves as an example of scholarship and
community service.

Besides receiving the award and a lovely book, a student who is honoured as
a Smith Book Award recipient will have her application fee waived should she
decide to apply to Smith, either online or by mail.

The book awards are also a way to raise awareness of Smith as well as recognizing high achieving grade 11 students.

This year 11 schools participated, including:
The Bishop Strachan School (Toronto)
Earl Haig Secondary School (Toronto)
Forest Hill Collegiate (Toronto)
Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School (Mississauga)
Havergal College (Toronto)
Holy Trinity School (Richmond Hill)
Humberside Collegiate (Toronto)
Jarvis Collegiate Institute (Toronto)
