November 8, 2010

The Smith Club of Toronto will be holding an informal holiday get-together on Wednesday, December 1, evening. If you would like to know more details, please send me an email to ayeshachatt@hotmail.com.

All alumnae who will be in the area at that time are welcome!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

I have been assured by the College that Carol Christ will be traveling to Toronto within the next 12-18 months (as of January 2010).

Here are the notes from the March 9th, 2010 Meeting:

For those of you who were unable to attend, here is a synopsis of the mandate of The Smith Club of Toronto.

The Alumnae Association is encouraging clubs to create community and networking opportunities.  While the regular functions still apply, student awareness raising, fundraising, book awards, the purpose of our meetings is also to connect with one another and with the college in both a formal and informal way. We will be holding more frequent, less formulaic meetings and events that will allow for this connection.  Whether it be a call-out through social networking media to join someone for a gallery showing or a movie on the spur of the moment, or a speaker from the college at someone’s house, or the welcoming of a Smithie new to Toronto, or joining the Toronto Smith Club book club, we are going to use old and new formats to encourage everyone’s participation.  I am attaching a survey for you to complete to see if there are other areas of connection that we can address.  Please complete and email back to me.

Our Facebook group (Smith College Club of Toronto) is another way to connect. Watch for an invitation soon to join!

If someone wants to create a twitter account for the club…go for it!

Thank you,

Abby
