1977 50th Reunion Class Connectors

Are you part of a group of 1977 classmates that meets regularly or wishes they could? Do you love hanging with classmates in your house, major, JYA, campus activity, or other group? Did you enjoy virtual living rooms and wish for more? Come and be a Class Connector!
We’ll reconnect with others in our group, make Reunion attendance plans, make our own Reunion gifts and advocate for gift participation generally, and encourage updating contact info. If you think the communities we’ve built within our class and the enduring friendships we’ve made are some of the best things about being a Smithie, we’d love to hear of your interest and ideas for class connector affinity groups.
The Fund Chair and the Reunion Chairs jointly are recruiting and supporting Class Connectors. Continue reading to learn how you can help in a FUN way!

Hybrid house/affinity group connections: Connectors are leaders from houses and our many active affinity groups (majors, JYA, campus activity, others).

Requirements for Connectors: 

  • Will attend 50th reunion in person, May 13-16, 2027. Have attended at least one or two previous reunions. 
  • Donated to Smith during this 5-year reunion cycle.
  • Want to engage with Smith and classmates.
  • Comfortable emailing, organizing outreach, and Zooming classmates. (Class officers can help you with Zoom!)
  • No requirement for individual direct solicitation or thank-you notes (unless desired).

Connector Role Responsibilities:

    • Connect with as many of their group as possible. Zoom meetings/Virtual Living Rooms encouraged.  
    • In communicating with group, indicate Connector has made their class gift and encourage members to join them in doing so. Also share links to Planned Giving information and encourage participation.
    • Ensure group members have provided updated contact information (especially email). Work to locate ‘lost’ group members.
    • Communicate via email about reunion and class book submission reminders. Our dedicated Connector toolbox will include ideas and sample text.
    • Encourage reunion attendance and group logistics planning, rides, etc.
    • Provide class officers with group feedback and questions (needs and suggestions) on reunion and related activities.
