Admissions & Recruitment

An important task for local Smith Alumnx Clubs across the country and world is supporting the recruitment of future Smithies and supporting students currently studying at Smith.

Admissions and Recruitment Activities

Looking for a fun way to get involved with the SF/Marin Smith Club? Prospective Smith students are gearing up for interviews here in the Bay Area, and the Committee needs your help to interview all the prospective applicants. It’s a fun opportunity to provide an alumnx’s perspective on Smith to interesting young women, and a valuable way to volunteer a few hours of time to Smith.

If you’re interested in interviewing students for Smith, please contact Myrna Stevenot at  myrna.stevenot@gmail.com. Interviews are possible in both San Francisco and Marin.

Additionally, the Recruitment Committee hosts a tea in January to bring together current students and prospective students, and their parents, to meet and discuss the benefits of a Smith education.

Book Awards:

Do you have connections to a high school in the San Francisco or Marin area? Are you an alumnx? A proud parent or volunteer? We are looking for volunteers to help us identify and work with schools that would be good places to award promising junior women with the Smith Book Award (a book and waived application fee). Contact Myrna (myrna.stevenot@gmail.com) for more information or if you can help.

Supporting Current Students

Contributions to the SF/Marin Smith Club go toward a number of events and gifts that support current Smithies. For example, each spring and fall, the Club sends care packages to SF/Marin Smith students during finals. The Young Alum Picnic, held in August each year, provides a venue for current students and young alums to meet, learn about possible career paths and begin the process of using the powerful Smith network. There are many ways to show your support. Contact us to find out how you can get involved in the Committee.
