50th Reunion Gift: Coming down to the wire we broke the thermometer with over 67% of our class contributing over $1.3 million. As we heard from Carol Christ, our gift will help provide access today to talented young women who aspire to the Smith education that we were so lucky to have 50 years ago.

Reunion Book and Survey: 63 percent of our 516 “active” classmates either updated their profiles, submitted an essay and recent photo, completed the survey, or did all of the above. This is 7 percent better than the class of 1962! We are grateful to each and every one of you who participated. Our book will be a truly amazing chronicle of the past fifty years.

The Way We Were and Who We Are Now: Further Thoughts on the Class of 1963 50th Reunion Survey, by Susan August Rubinstein May 25, 2013.

The reunion was a powerful experience for all by any measure one uses. It had everything – the opportunity to reconnect with friends; timely topics for reflection and discussion; a spiritual component; a chance to celebrate, through our art and reunion book, the amazing beings we women in the class of 1963 are. And there is more – we met impressive current Smith students; we could look back and recognize that our Smith education opened doors, minds and opportunities; we could see how the college has evolved and developed. (I was blown away by the art museum and will return to spend more time there.)  I have never been more proud to be a Smith graduate – thanks to all who worked so hard to make this reunion possible.                                            Susan Counihan Fratus

Pictures by Nancy Wilson Scanlon capture scenes from our reunion weekend. (Google+ deleted these in 2019, sadly)

A record 222 of us registered for this 50th reunion, and many of us braved the rain and marched under our “Stayin’ Alive” motto and signs in the Alumnae Parade. You can find our Reunion Program and Schedule in “Archives.”   See Margo Breck Euler’s collages below and there are some additional pictures on Gill Shaw Kellogg’s Shutterfly Site as well.  (You may have to scroll down to see them.)

It was down to the wire, but we exceeded our goal of $1,000,000!  Gifts totalled $1,489,190 including gifts in kind (non cash).  Of those funds we contributed $850,757 to the College.

Some of you have requested the List of Songs that were sung at reunion events.
