Nosotras Mentor Program

Mission:
The mission of the ALAS Nosotras Mentor Program is to provide support for Nosotras members at Smith College and to ensure their successful transition to higher education and their retention; and furthermore to provide resources and guidance post-graduation.

History:

In Spring 2011, the ALAS Nosotras Mentor Program began when ALAS members wanted to connect more with Latina students and their allies at Smith College.  Since quite a few of our ALAS members were formerly involved with Nosotras in some capacity or would have liked to, that’s where we decided to begin recruiting. In the Fall of 2011, when we approached Nosotras, we were overjoyed to find that over forty Nosotras members wanted to get involved.

Volunteer & Become a Nosotras Alumnae Mentor

The ALAS Nosotras Mentor Program is in its infancy and needs more ALAS members who are willing to mentor Nosotras Smithies.  Please consider volunteering to become a Nosotras Alumnae Mentor.  The Nosotras Alumnae Mentors will provide one-on-one support to Nosotras members per the mission of the ALAS Nosotras Mentor Program.  Local members will be asked to meet with mentees twice during the semester and provide on-going support via email and/or phone.  National members will be asked to become a resource for mentees in need of career and/or academic support.

To sign up to be a mentor, please fill out the ALAS Nosotras Mentor Program Form.
