Memorial Chair-Alice Wayland Cruikshank

As you know, my job is two-fold: one, thanking people for making gifts to Smith in memory or honor of someone, and two, sending a note of condolence on behalf of our class to the relative of one of our classmates who has died. I am always moved by the generosity of donors, but it is especially touching when a (often a spouse) sends me a note of thanks. Often the appreciation expressed includes how much Smith meant to the person who is being honored or who is deceased. The Smith experience and our class’s solidarity are not forgotten.
