Hello world!

Happy New Year!

As I sit here in Jacksonville, Florida bemoaning our cold 50 degree weather, I am reminded that for all of you in the northern half of the country that sounds warm. It’s all relative…But one thing is certain and that is that spring, and beautiful weather, is only a few months away. Remember spring in Northampton? It’s wonderful—and your class officers and reunion team hope to see you all there at our 45th reunion, May 23-25. For those arriving early, dormitory housing will be open Thursday May 22nd.

Watch for our winter class newsletter which should arrive in your mailboxes around the middle of Feb.—it will have lots of details about reunion with a schedule of class activities and special events. About the same time you should receive a package in the mail from the college with registration materials and more general information about reunion weekend plans and options (will also be available on-line). Reading both of these mailings you’ll discover how rich an experience this reunion weekend will be.

Now here is what we recommend that you do in the meantime:

— Check in with your Smith friends and make plans to meet up at reunion.  Of course, you will have the opportunity to make new friends that weekend but it’s always so much fun to catch up with those with whom you shared those late “60’s years.  Need an address or a phone number?  Contact your House Rep and she’ll help connect you. (Check our website at:http://alumnae.smith.edu/smithcms/1969 for the list of House Reps with contact information.)

— Make your travel plans now to ensure flight or other reservations at the best rates. And consider extending your trip to Northampton by a few extra days to explore the Berkshires. (Check our fall newsletter posted on our class website for information on other web sites that detail a variety of wonderful things to do and see in the area. There’s also a web site listed there that details hotels and B&B’s in the area.) Also, please note that the campus houses will be open for Alums beginning on Thurs., May 22 and our class is planning an informal dinner gathering at Fitzwilly’s in Northampton for those who are arriving on Thurs. We would love to kick off the weekend with you there.

— Please let us know your ideas for Parade sign slogans that reflect our reunion theme: “Reflect and Rock On”. This is a good chance to be creative and crazy! Send your ideas to Irene DeSisto at: irenedesisto@yahoo.com.

Our reunion theme, “Reflect and Rock On” captures the spirit of where we all are now in our life journeys as well as where we come from as children of the 60’s. We’re all different but we share so much. Please come to reunion in May and help us celebrate our past, present and future.
